ABOUT SOVEILUFTEN

Soveiluften is a company dedicated to make the world sleep better. The name literally means "Sleep On Air" in Norwegian. The owner of the company, Mark Johannessen, is a strong proponent of the outdoors and the concept for the patent pending technology was developed because of Mark's determination to create a more comfortable sleeping experience while camping.

SLEEP
ON AIR

PARENT TECHNOLOGY

An air mattress concept was used as the basis of the concept. Air mattresses are light, can blow up and deflate quickly, and ideal for camping. What is not ideal about an air mattress is they, quite simply, are uncomfortable. We are not talking about the occasional air mattress which doesn't hold the air well, we are talking about sleeping on compressed air does not mimic sleeping on air.

It's uncomfortable in more ways then one. Any air mattress less then $300, they are all the same really. That is, air is pumped into a bladder, you sleep on that bladder. No amount of internal channels and cells and extra padding really changes the experience.

So the concept of stretching a fabric ATOP came to mind. Research of air bladder with beams and a fabric tensioned led to very few results. Nobody is doing it. Now, why stretch a fabric atop? Simple answer: It creates additional support points which elevate the body above just compressed air and now the body is supported by the high points of the air bladder and tensioned fabric. It feels much more like sleeping on air.

It also creates a "firm", yet "giving" feel. It basically feels like a firm mattress that doesn't give you aches in the morning.

THE SLEEVE

Our first product to go live is our "sleeve". It is made out of heavy duty breathable canvas, hand made in our Harrisburg, PA factory. It accomplishes the tensioned fabric concept because the sleeve is smaller then the air mattress, so when inflated, the fabric is tensioned. This tension is the additional component needed to create the absolute best sleeping surface possible.

THE SURFACE FIRMNESS AND SOFTNESS

First, if you are camping, you likely can handle a firm surface without issue. For those that want to adjust the softness factor, fear not! Just add a topper. We offer various toppers and sizes so just pick the one you feel will best suit your needs should you want to create a softer surface.

Have you ever thrown a topper on your bed and it is still uncomfortable? It's because the mattress is uncomfortable and the surface is too soft. Have you ever thrown a topper on the floor and found it uncomfortable?

It's because the floor is too hard. Now throw "any" topper onto our patent pending sleeve/air mattress combination and you will never look back. Literally, it's nothing you have experienced to date. In the simplest terms, when you lay down you are comfortable, when you wake up you have no pains.

Can you imagine going camping and waking up on an air mattress more comfortable then your own bed at home?

Soveiluften sleeves makes that a reality.

COST

It's so inexpensive to create a superior sleeping surface it's ridiculous. Currently we do not sell our own air mattresses so we have provided links to air mattresses sold at Walmart. They range from $10 to $20 and around $40 for a king size. Remember this, it does not matter what air mattress you use, so buy the least expensive. As long as the surface of air mattress is profiled, the sleeve works as intended. The sleeves range from $100 to $120 and it is the magic in the sleeping on air formula. The toppers range from $5 to $150. We recommend sticking with the thinner toppers because the thick ones just aren't needed. Even if historically you like a soft mattress, you may actually discover that a 1 1/2" foam topper with the sleeve and air mattress combination is plenty soft for your body.

Basically, $110 to $150 average, you will have a portable sleeping mattress you can use anywhere and will be the most comfortable mattress you've experienced.

CONS

Air mattresses require air, so you need a pump. Don't forget to buy the pump! Air mattresses can get a hole. Don't worry about it, buy another for cheap. It's the sleeve you don't want to lose. New air mattresses stretch, just like the sleeve will stretch slightly. So first couple times add more air. After a couple uses it finds its equilibrium.

LIFE OF PRODUCT

The sleeve is like your camping chair. It will last for years and years if you take care of it. Don't burn it, don't keep it stored in moist areas, it will be fine. The air mattress can last months, years, even longer. But the air mattress can be easily replaced if need be for little cost.
